Artist Studio: Jesse Addison Gayer on Askart.com

I now also maintain an artist listing, and an online "Artist's Studio" on Askart.com. To view my page click on the site link above and then look me up in the alphabetical artist's index under Gayer.

You may view and purchase my works there as well. One nice feature of this site's studio are the large close-up views you can get of my pieces. You may purchase pieces either through Askart, or here on Calfinearts where PayPal purchase buttons are available for each piece that is for sale.

I may occaisonally be offering paintings from other artists, both contempoary and from the past for whom I am a dealer through this fine website.

Thank you for your interest.

Ask Art.com - The Artist Bluebook

Askart.com is an essential tool for any serious collector or even student of all types of art and artists. It's basic mission is to provide a site that lists comprehenisve information about virtually every important (and many not so known) artists in the United States, and now also many from around the world.

Askart.com has biography, artist works images, major auction house records dating back to the late 1980s, auction price charts, popular topic articles, books that discuss an artist, a list of dealers for a particualr artist, a section of 'Art for Sale' on AskArt, and many other interesting features.

I would recommend Askart.com to anyone who wants to research artists, or learn more about fine art. To access auction records, along with auction images, and some other features, one must subscribe or pay a one time fee. I personally subscribe, paying about $20 monthly for unlimited access, but there is much to be learned even without subscription.

Edan Milton Hughes
Edan Milton Hughes  is one of the formost experts on Early California art. He is the author of the wonderful reference book  Artists in California  1786 - 1940 , which is must purchase for any serious student or collector of California art.  His website has an extensive collection of early Caifornia Art that Mr. Hughes makes available for sale. Biographies of the artists are available with their artwork for sale. A most worthwhile site to peruse and enjoy.

John Moran Auctions
John Moran Auctioneers  of Pasadena, California one of the leading auctiion houses that deals in the best of Early California Art. It holds three California and American Art Auctions yearly usually in February, June and October at the Pasadena Civic Center Convention Center on Green Street. I have been attending these auctions for quite few years now.

Check their website for infomation of this quality art auction house that deals in artists such as Guy Rose, Maynard Dixon, William Wendt, Edgar Payne, Anna A. Hills, Millard Sheets, Milford Zornes, Phil Dike, Paul Grimm, Carl Sammons, Elmer and Mariion Wachtel, Maurice Braun, Percy Gray, Dana Bartlett, Emile Kosa Jr., Joseph Kleitsch, and many others too numerous to mention.

They also have an extensive offering of books on California Artists. A website very much worth exploring art that has heavily influenced me. They also have begun offering a once a month 'free appraisal day' from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM for your art, check the website for date schedule details.

The Irvine Museum
The Irvine Museum is located in Irvine, CA.  It is just a ways off the 5/405 Freeway (Jamboree Road offramp) on Von Karman Avenue, near Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, and the art colony of Laguna Beach in Orange County, CA.  Founded by Joan Irvine Smith, it's main mission is the exhibition and promotion of Early California Art. It has an extensive collection of this art.

Exhibitions are changed every four months. It also has a book store, with a large selection of books, some videos, and stationary on Early California Art.

It's shows are free to the public, and parking is validated. I have gone to most shows over the last few years, and am never disappointed.
